Neera Tanden currently serves as Assistant to the President and Chair of the Domestic Policy Council, which drives the development and implementation of President Biden’s domestic policy agenda, including health care, education, racial justice, civil rights, crime, and more. Previously, she was Senior Advisor and Staff Secretary in the White House, where she was responsible for Presidential decision-making. She has served in both the Obama and Clinton administrations, as well as presidential campaigns and think tanks. Prior to her roles in the Biden-Harris Administration, Neera was the President and CEO of the Center for American Progress, one of the largest think tanks in the country.
Neera previously served on President Barack Obama’s health reform team in the White House. Prior to that, she was a policy advisor to Hillary Clinton in the White House, the Senate, and her campaigns. She also served in the Clinton White House on the Domestic Policy Council. She received her bachelor’s degree from UCLA and her JD from Yale Law School.
