                                                    Emily R. Gee is the senior vice president for Inclusive Growth at the Center for American Progress,  an independent, nonpartisan policy institute that is dedicated to improving the lives of all Americans. In her role, she oversees economic policy, health policy, and the Women’s Initiative. She guides the department’s research, policy development, and advocacy to support equitable economic growth and improve health and well-being. Before that, she was vice president for Health Policy at American Progress, leading the organization’s efforts across health care and public health.
Previously, Gee served as an economist at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and on the staff of the Council of Economic Advisers in the Obama White House. She has been quoted and her work has been cited in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Politico, Forbes, Vox, and other publications. She has extensive expertise in health care coverage, affordability, and financing, and she is a member of the Health Care Services board of the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine. Gee holds a Ph.D. in economics from Boston University and an A.B. in government from Harvard College. She is originally from Washington state.
